3 chillers, NH3 heat pump and control
Basel University Hospital
Our Projet
Basel University Hospital is the largest hospital in north-western Switzerland. It works closely with the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Basel. The most important joint tasks are the training and continuing education of doctors and research.
Design and manufacture of 3 chillers and an ammonia heat pump (AHP) to provide cooling and heating for the Basel hospital.
The design was tailor-made to meet the criteria and dimensional requirements of the existing technical room.
3 chillers
1'800 kW at 8/14°C
1 heat pump
2'400 kW at 65/45°C
3 piston compressore
continuously variable from 28-100%
Details
Cooling units
3x 1'800 kW at 8/14°C
2 variable-speed piston compressors 500 to 1,800 rpm (continuously variable from 28-100%)
Plate and shell coolers with low ammonia load <200kg
Heat pump
2'400 kW at 65/45°C
1 high-pressure piston compressor at variable speed 700 to 1,800 rpm (continuously variable from 28-100%)
Plate and shell heat exchangers with low ammonia load <150kg
Use of a desuperheater and sub-cooler to maximise the coefficient of performance
Control
Entirely controlled by ZERO-C
Control of primary pumps and control valves on the discharge and source sides
